Abstract

The tunable architectures, superior electrochemical behaviors, and distinctive physicochemical properties of nanomaterials have made them revolutionary platforms for next-generation energy storage systems. This review thoroughly examines recent developments in the design, synthesis, and performance optimization of nanostructured materials for use in lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, supercapacitors, and hybrid devices that have occurred between 2023 and 2026. Material scalability, stability, and structure-property correlations are given particular attention, and orderly reference integration is used to guarantee clarity and scientific rigor. The functions of various strategies, including sol-gel processing, MOF-derived frameworks, hybrid composites, and 2D material architectures, in improving ion transport, charge storage, and long-term cycling stability are highlighted through a critical comparison. In order to guide future research, unresolved issues are also listed, such as large-scale production, degradation mechanisms, and integration with renewable systems. Together, these articles provide a forward-looking viewpoint for converting nanomaterials into economically feasible energy storage solutions by bridging material-level innovations with device-level applications.
